The Keys Were Locked in the Van and Food Delivery
Tuesday
Unfortunately the keys were locked in the van on Monday night. After many failed attempts at retrieving the keys
ourselves and with the help of a locksmith it was decided that Alfonzo would take the bus back to Managua to the car dealership
to get an extra key. Since we could not go to the coffee farm (it being too far to walk to) we used Tuesday to fill
bags for needy families. Karen and Steve had grant money and asked their english students what they wanted to use the
money for. The students said they wanted to put together these bags of food for some families. They chose which
families they thought could benefit from the gift the most. We went to the stores to buy rice, beans, coffee etc.
The Wesley students and English students worked together to fill and then deliver the bags. Since we had some more free
time, some of the kids taught us some tricks with their "trompos" or tops. They were pretty good! It
was touching to be able to help families in this way, but it was extremely difficult to walk past their neighbors without
giving them a bag as well. There is so much need in Quilalí it is sometimes hard to know where the priorities should
lie.
